Question about slippery elm brands
Hi, my boy Kayne (5 year old GSD/Aussie/Whippet mix) was just recently diagnosed with EPI after months of struggling to find an accurate diagnosis. We started him on Epizyme and B12 (the wonderlabs one) and within 24 hours his stools were back to normal. It's been about two weeks and I've noticed he's started to gag or throw up watery, yellowish bile a few hours after a meal. He gets fed 3 times a day. I saw others recommending slippery elm to help with the vomiting and I want to get some but I'm not sure if there are better brands than others, if it has to be dog specific or if it doesn't matter as long as slippery elm is the only ingredient, and if the mg amount matters. I looked at the wonderlabs brand and my only concern is that it will take anywhere from 3 to 8 days to get here and I'm wanting some relief for my boy sooner than that. Are there other brands that work as well or are recommended? Preferably that I could either pick up in person or order off Amazon with prime shipping? I've looked at so many brands trying to make the right choice and I'm just not sure what to do. Thanks everyone!

Specific advice is on the menu (top right) on the home page. Tons of reading!

Regarding brands , people use Wonderlabs in the US, but in the UK we have various ones, without any issues. Not dog specific. It’s the same as mucilage meds for people, eg Fibogel.

Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.

Re: Question about slippery elm brands
Thanks for the response! I looked the page over before posting which is where I saw that they recommend wonderlabs. It's helpful but definitely a lot of info to take in. I'm US based so I'm probably going to go with them I just wish it would get here before Monday. Anyways, thanks again!

Re: Question about slippery elm brands
Hi Jesse,
If you live near a health food store... and if they carry loose powders, you often can get slippery elm powder that way. As i am sure by now, you have probably figured out, you don't need much.
If ordering from Amazon as it will get to you quicker...... i highly recommend the NOW slippery elm powder product.

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

In my area, it is stocked at Whole Foods & it can be delivered tomorrow morning. Maybe look for a health food store where you live, --- Pam
Tucker was a shepherd mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Diane's Enzymes 4 t/day, B12 1 capsule/day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/day. Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 4 c/day. 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma Nov. 2023. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.
Now there's Nina. 5 year old GSD. TLI 1.0 B12 323. We are still tweaking her routine, and getting lots of help from the forum. She is klutzy and goofy, and we love her dearly, too.
