Counter Surfing
Earlier today my son left a half eaten banana and whole small orange on the table and while in my daughter’s care our EPI boxer did a little counter surfing and consumed the full banana and chewed on the orange in the 2 minutes she was left unattended. Called the vet and they had no concerns. I gave...

Separation Anxiety
Good morning! It’s been awhile so to review - Our boxer Ruby a year and 4 months old. She has been losing weight since last Fall and had on and off chronic soft stools that progressed to explosive diarrhea until enzymes came into our life and then most of our problem has been solved with Purina Pro ...

Re: Enzyme Switch
Thanks ladies! I could not for the life of me find which amount your suggested. Thank goodness someone did. I read through that feed two times. :? My original thread was New to Forum. Can you over do the B12? Her food actually has it in there as well. So I worry about overdosing her. She did have a ...

Re: Enzyme Switch
She is around 40 lbs and the label calls for feeding a 36-50 lb dog between 2 1/4 - 2 7/8 cups. She gets around 3 3/4 to 4 cups a day which is right around what they suggest feeding a 75 lb dog.. She had horrible lip smacking last night through the night after one meal on the powdered enzymes. Maybe...

Enzyme Switch
Hello everyone! Our Ruby girl is doing great on her Purina Pro Plan GastroENteric food topped with two crushed PancrePlus tablets. We’re going to see an IMS next week and he told our vet the tablets were worthless compared to the powder, so we’re trying to make the switch. I am starting with one mea...

Re: Slippery Elm bark use
I use Nutricost Slippery Elm capsules. They are 500 mg each, which is really close to a 1/2 tsp per capsule. My dog weighs 43 lbs. This seems to be a good dose for her, but she can have more. I open them up and apply it to the top of food morning and night because she only receives enzymes with her ...

Re: New to Forum
Well we’re back on the EPI train this week. We went ahead and asked our vet to call and get us set up with an appointment at a vet school near by for a second opinion/other tests that our local vet doesn’t do. When he called the vet school the vet he talked to there said that there seems to be no wa...

Re: New to Forum
Thank you for all your responses. As with human illness, it is so easy to feel like we’re on an island. You have helped me so much! I will be talking with my vet about the high fiber diet.

Re: New to Forum
Do you think it is safe to assume it is not EPI even though she wasn’t fasted for the test? I assumed so because her number was so high.

Re: New to Forum
Well test results came back and Ruby's TLI was 21.7. Her B12 and Folate were also well within normal ranges. I am stumped. She was not fasted and on enzymes, but the number was not even close. We are being referred on to an internist at a local vet school. I will likely ask for the test to be redone...
