In regards to the enzyme cost concern... we reached out directly to Enzyme Diane.... and the following is her response and i hope it helps explain things somewhat
ENZYME DIANE RESPONSE:
I have been arguing with our supplier. Before COVID I was warned by my sales rep of Swine Flu and China killing off a majority of their pigs and they were the largest producer of Pancreatin. Our supplier was getting calls from baby formula manufacturers wanting huge orders of Pancreatin that they could not even supply to them as they did not make that much and they were already maxed out on orders. Fast forward COVID strikes. Slaughterhouses close and they stop harvesting glands. Those that need them plead with slaughhouses that they need the glands. Its time consuming to harvest and you need something like 17 for each kilo of enzymes. Transportation costs have about doubled. I just changed carriers trying to bring that down and I know our next order will come in at a lower cost as I have been saying really do they need to be this high? It is very frustrating as they are needed. We will then be having the same supplier bring in glands from Italy and Spain to process here to get costs down again. Its a struggle that is for sure.

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Re: Cost of porcine enzymes
without being political things really have become difficult
Over here in uk I dont think we have issues with obtaining the ingredients for enzymes but as I dont have an EPI animal any more I might be wrong I will find out
my opinion here with evidence, is that people will cut down on their own expenditure to finance their dogs/ cats condition , whatever it is
we are lucky over here to have pet insurance which is huge business, but the monthly payments can be high
its all very worrying as living costs are soaring all over place

My Kara born 21 July 2009 diagnosed with EPI by cTLI test August 2010 TLI = <1...folate 14 Cobalamin 408, shot down to 94, b12 injections every other day
Lowest weight 39 pounds
We used Panzym enzymes, Tylan and Chemeyes b12 capsules
Sadly, on 10th May 2019, we lost her to DM

Re: Cost of porcine enzymes
The precise number of pets with EPI who might be euthanized or die for economical reasons cannot be calculated. But for some pet owners, the expense of EPI treatment can be a serious financial hardship. Finding cheap treatment options, such as using alternate enzyme sources or financial assistance programs, requires discussing any financial issues with a veterinarian. Porcine enzyme prices are on the rise, and there may soon be a shortage of these products. There are a number of complex causes for this, including supply and demand, production costs, and market pressures.
