Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone's doggie's are doing well!! I wanted to try to put Rudy on Raw pancreas, he does not like the taste of enzymes or wet food. I have been putting green tripe on his food and that has helped with him eating better. So, I thought I would try real pancreas, I got a case of beef pancreas from K9 Kravings, I have read 1 oz per 10lbs of dog per day and I have read per meal!? Which is it??
I tried per day on Sunday and of course, he had diarrhea, so I didn't know, do I transition, or did I not give enough?? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Susan and Rudy
Raw pancreas
Re: Raw pancreas
Hi Susan I have not fed raw pancreas before but it would be given at each meal. Enzymes need to be given with all food even treats. Or the treats need to be given right after an enzymed meal.

Re: Raw pancreas
I know the raw pancreas is given with each meal, I was trying to figure out if he needs 8 oz per meal or 8 oz per day. He is 88 lbs. Raw pancreas is given in place of enzymes.
Re: Raw pancreas
Yes I do know they are given in place of other enzymes.
Thank you

Re: Raw pancreas
I'm not an expert, nor have I ever used raw pancreas. However, I have learned a lot from this site. Here's what I have found out...
One of the difficulties with using raw pancreas is that each cow has a different amount of enzymes in it's pancreas. One might be quite high and another quite low, so the amount of enzymes in each batch of pancreas, even from the same supplier, could vary significantly. It can take anywhere from 1-4 oz of raw pancreas to equal 1 teaspoon of powdered enzymes...so somewhere between 1-4 oz of pancreas per cup of dry food.

Re: Raw pancreas
thanks Jane for posting that... 1 to 4 ounces of raw pancreas = 1 tsp of powdered enzymes
and thanks Jill for clarifying that enzymes need to be given with every meal
