Re: Help With My Dog's Diet
Fran, Tucker takes 1/16 teaspoon tylan every. single. day. Keeps the air nice and fresh, too. If I try to let up, the deadly toots return.

Tucker was a shepherd/lab mix--- TLI 1.3, Folate 9.7, Cobalamin 666, Lipase 38. Took Diane's Enzymes 4 teaspoons/day, Wonderlabs B12 one capsule per day, and Tylan 1/16 teaspoon/ morning (to hold SID at bay). Taste of the Wild High Prairie, 1 1/2 cups/day, with a total of 4 cups of Fresh Pet. Stopped eating everything in sight, and went from 60 to 85 pounds! Tucker was my boyfriend, and my husband was OK with that. Tucker succumbed to hemangiosarcoma, but we cherished every day we had with that wonderful, beautiful boy. I will always, always miss my sweet big boy.

Fran, if you are lucky you can find Tylosin powder online at an aviary store without a script. Otherwise you will need a script.

Re: Help With My Dog's Diet
Do they Tylan (pills) reduction by 1 pill a week.... don't rush it..
When you get down to only 1 pill a week... after that week is over.... cut the pill in half and only give 1/2 pill twice a day for a week,
Then try 1/2 pill once a day for the following week .. and then next week, try 1/2 pill every other day.... cross your fingers, paws and pray that this works !!!!!!
And do keep us posted!

Olesia, was owned by Izzy, a 35lb Spanish Water Dog (SWD), Diagnosed at 1.5 years old - TLI results 1.. Izzy passed away on February 13, 2020 at 15 years old. She lived with EPI for 13+1/2 years. It was because of Izzy that Epi4Dogs was started... she was the inspiration. May her legacy of helping others with EPI continue for as long as needed.........

Re: Help With My Dog's Diet
Thank you - that is a slow process but I think its a good one. My Stella is starting to not want her food - so I am getting concerned. She has done this in the past. I think now its because that she isn't starving anymore and wanting to eat constantly, but I was also giving her a lot more food. So I might just cut it back to being a normal amount for now and hope that works.

Re: Help With My Dog's Diet
don't ut back to normal... that could be too much of a reduction at once.... SLOWLY reduce the amount of food by maybe only 25% of the increase you were feeding.
The other thing you can also do.... is prepare the food as you normally would (with a "slight" reduction)... but then when you serve it to her... only give her 1/3 of the meal..... let her finish that, and THEN give her the 2nd 3rd of the remaining meal.... if she finishes that THEN give her the final 3rd of the meal..
Sometimes this helps too!
