All good advice. I know it can be intimidating to go talk to a vet and present info that they don't know but you know your pup. If things aren't right a change is needed.....lots of good advice here and lots of good research and facts that should help when talking with your vet. We look forward to hearing how it goes.
Currently 2 Shiloh Shepherd Pups! Two Shilohs that passed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Taiko was born 6 September 2006 and had EPI; she passed over the Rainbow Bridge 10 April 2019 NOT EPI-related.
Pharaoh born 24 November 2007 and had EPI. He passed September 2020 NOT EPI-related.
Moku born 15 April 2014 and was dx with EPI in January 2019.
Hoshi born 6 July 2019 and does not have EPI
Taiko and Pharaoh were half siblings through their sire; their sire is Moku's grandfather through his Mom. Moku and Hoshi have the same sire.
Moku uses PancreaPlus tablets and receives weekly B12 shots at home.

oh boy I forgot to say about a journal ! However, we talked about sooooo much I am not surprised, I am pleased you are trying different food, and hopefully, looking at maybe Panzym as an alternative to Lypex , it is a great enzyme, but expensive, from the amount you will have to give per day based on 150 grams food in the morning (1.5) Lypex and 450 grams at night (4.5 ) lypex a bottle will last roughly 10 days, which is crazy

based on

https://epi4dogs.com/epi-quick-guides-outside-usa/

it is funny, we are all poopologists

https://www.justrightpetfood.com/blog/w ... elling-you

this is one I've not seen before, and is interesting

this which is similar is on the website

https://epi4dogs.com/all-about-poop/

and Madelon , thanks for the commendation, much appreciated

and dont forget its your dog, your money

Good luck for today

hugs

I am new to EPI4Dogs. I have a 23 month old GSD diagnosed with EPI at the age of 8-months. We were introduced to ENZYMEDIANE which works great for Bleu. Recently Bleu has been 'very' itchy and breaking out in hot spots; it has become very frustrating :-( Not certain if this is allergy related or EPI related.

My husband and I diagnosed Bleu with EPI being apart of the germanshepard.com forum. It took quite awhile to talk the vet into getting blood work completed on Bleu; felt like they were using Bleu as a testing tool then found out once they finally agreed to the blood work; an EPI test wasn't requested. We had the vet contact Texas to have it added; Bleu no longer sees that vet! He has been on various foods (Blue Buffalo grain free; Merricks; Royal Canine; Purina EN; Purina HA); we have tried pretty much everything.

I am in need of help in finding a food for Bleu to where he can stay on it. The current vet is recommending Purina HA again; not a Purina fan. I have read from GSD Forum that Earthbound holistic dog food is very good as well as RAWZ. I am even considering putting Bleu on a RAW diet (greentripe.com).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!
Robin

Hello from Sheffield, home of Henderson’s Relish!
Every one has been helping you, so I will just join in the welcome, and if you need any more Uk specific advice , I’ll be here too.
This website is a lifesaver for the dogs and owners.
Springer spaniel Marti had Epi, PLE , MMM just to confuse me. She lived till 12yrs, chubby and happy despite eight years of epi.
Capsule enzymes suited her best. B12 supplements made her into a new dog!
After a cocker with PLN kidney disease, I now have two healthy rescues, a lively, suicidal , small ginger terrier, adopted with pneumonia, and gum disease needing nearly all his teeth out, and a fluffy grey toy poodle/terrier from Greece.

I'm sorry Bleu has had problems with itching. My girl just had to be put on Apoquel for allergies. She was very itching and had sores coming up on her back. It has really helped her. She's not licking her feet anymore either. As far as food I use Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream because it only had 3% fiber. Sorry I have no experience with a raw diet. Might want to talk to your vet about environment allergies. We did try zyrtec for awhile but it wasn't strong enough for her. Keep us updated. It might be easier for people to find your post if you start a new thread and post your question about Bleu there.
My name is Stacie and my girl's name is Dizzy. German Shepherd, Age 10-diagnosed 12/24/2011 at 55 pounds, current weight is 93 pounds.
Feeding Taste of the Wild 4 cups a day with Enzyme Diane 1tsp per cup. Wonderlabs b12 once daily.
Dizzy has Pannus, given Cyclosporine drops in each eye twice daily. Pepcid once daily. Apoquel for allergies once daily.

Hi all
A bit of an update on our Zak.
Since chatting to Jean a week ago where she advised us to change his food, we were feeding him K9 Optimum, Chicken, but now give him James Wellbeloved Lamb and Veg. We also had to up his Lypex from 4 a day to 5.. Well, one week on and he has been totally great.... So much energy, running around, isn't lying there groaning anymore. Its been great.

Still awaiting the vet to speak to Liverpool university about changing his meds...

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

Elaine
