Re: Hungry all the time
How is the weight doing? Is a healthy weight being maintained? If B12 levels are good, poops good, and weight good, and happy enough, my guess is that everything is probably OK. I have a Lab. Labs are always starving! And a Lab with EPI isn't an exception! I'm not in the UK, so I'm not up on t...

Re: New to Epi- Crockett
Noooooo! That is so very heart breaking! Really sad :( If Crockett did have that aggressive cancer, I wonder if that is what caused much of your issues, including EPI. You certainly did absolutely everything possible though. So really sorry for your loss. RIP dear Crockett. You are still loved, and ...

Re: Raw Food
I have fed raw since before and after EPI. The 85/15 is completely fine. Any meat/bone that's ground up should be fine (assuming pancreatitis was never an issue).
Some skin is OK too.

Re: Request help with suspected EPI in 4 year old Indie mix
I can't offer much here beyond what was already said here. Really, the only time that Chance experienced lethargy was when his B12 levels were crazy low. But that improved quickly after the first injection. Rylee doesn't do lethargy! She's still a complete lunatic, and still hasn't grown a brain 🤣. ...

Re: Has anyone ever adjusted enzyme doses to specific foods for dogs with EPI?
I feed raw. When first starting out, I was feeding meat from one supplier that had a pretty high fat content. (Enzymes was and still is Creon capsules). I had a minimum enzyme dose worked out that eliminated acid reflux and had okay poops. (Rylee has terrible acid reflux and very prone to GI bleeds ...

Re: Long lasting EPI friendly chews
I buy my meat from a pet food supplier, and from there I can get either ground meat with bone, or "solid" bones (not ground). So I don't actually have a meat grinder myself... since the EPI diagnosis, I've only really bought meat/bone that's already ground. (I only have a coffee grinder fo...

Re: Switching from canned food to raw
Quite possibly, as long as you're on steroids, it's going to increase hunger. It's a pretty common symptom, even at relatively low doses. How is the weight coming along? Some dogs do eat their own poop; even those without real hunger issues, or EPI. It can sometimes be a tough habit to break. Some s...

Re: New to Epi- Crockett
Oh wow. I am glad you have discussed it with your vet. Good that it's temporary! I can see that it would lower vit D levels (as well as other fat soluble vits). How did the vit D toxicity even happen?? Dogs with EPI don't digest fat (or anything) very well, without enzymes. Was there something that ...

Re: Request help with suspected EPI in 4 year old Indie mix
Without the TLI, it's going to be difficult to know if Posto has EPI; BUT it sounds like it's a possibility. With the low B12 and high Folate, you could be dealing with Inflammatory bowel disease, or EPI. Often though - as Jill mentioned, if you are feeding fresh food (vs kibble), you would see undi...
