Re: 9-4-2023 Urgent Update regarding TLI test results

Sent this to my favorite vet. And I gave a thought to all those people who've come here with their dogs showing EPI symptoms and maybe even responding positively to pancreatic enzymes, but whose TLi tests told them, "Nope. Not EPI. You'll have to keep looking for answers." (I know the wise...

Re: 2024 EPI Calendars are ready!!!!!!!!!!!

What lovely, lovely works! Thank you to everybody involved. This is my first experience with EPI4Dogs calendars -- I had NO idea there would be 17, now 18! -- and I was blown away. Thank you, also, for the price reduction. $28 was a bit rich for my blood last year (my first calendar year here), so I...

Re: R.I.P. Nikki

I can only add to the heartfelt chorus of sympathy -- which I know doesn't help much.

You and Nikki helped me and Trixie when we were near the beginning of our EPI journey with your generous gift of Trinfac-B, and we will never forget.

Re: USA Heartworm Incidence Map

Very useful map -- and something I've wondered about. Trixie and I are from one of the "lite" HW areas, but are now spending most of our time in one of the very, very darkest areas. Although I'm scrupulous about giving her HeartGard+ when we're here, the local vet says they're now seeing c...

Re: Best protocol for sitters??

We are lucky enough to have found a boarding kennel that includes administration of medicines in their basic fee. (Yes, the fee is on the high side to begin with, but we're not getting any surprises.) We've left Trixie there for up to 12 days with all her food, enzymes, vitamins, and instructions, a...

Re: timing of seeing effects of changes: which enzyme

You're very welcome, Pat. I'm glad this EPI n00b could be of a little help. I love ACDs and Aussies. In the past I've fostered both and adopted several ACD mixes, which were among my all-time favorite dogs. Where I live now they market a designer dog called the Texas Heeler that's a mix of ACD and A...

Re: 2023 DVM360 Veterinary Conference

And having a booth there is great! I'm shocked that, even with EPI seemingly spreading, so many vets know so little about it (or worse, think they know something when what they know is wrong or misleading). Have a great experience, and thank you both for being ambassadors for the cause (and for our ...

Re: Trixie: Upcoming dental surgery (anything I need to know?)

Sounds like you and your vet have a good plan in place. I always opt for warming blanket and fluids too. I know there is something they can use to reverse the effects of the anesthetics which helps. I don't know of any precautions for EPI but I would think the added stress might produce a loose sto...

Trixie: Upcoming dental surgery (anything I need to know?)

I took Trixie (2-year-old EPI-diagnosed ACD or mix) to the vet on Monday for what I thought might be a foreign object lodged in her gums. Turned out to be an "interestingly broken tooth." She goes in for dental surgery a week from today. I'm just checking with you helpful experts to see if...

Re: timing of seeing effects of changes: which enzyme

The shelter told me EPI treatment was really simple- just sprinkle some enzymes on her food and incubate. For some of us lucky ones, it is that simple. We've had our ACD-mix Trixie for about 16 months, and the only time she's gotten really out of whack was when she raided a neighbor's holiday garba...
